Bernice A. Hilgenbrink

Bernice A. Hilgenbrink, 79, of Byron, Georgia, died July 9 at her daughter's residence in Howell.

She was born January 2, 1923 in Highland Park, MI, the daughter of Robert Henry Edwards and Lillian Camillia Cook. She married Robert O. Hilgenbrink on April 22, 1944; he survives.

Mrs. Hilgenbrink, formerly of Houghton Lake, Howell, and Redford, MI, had been a resident of Byron, GA since 1995. She attended Highland Park High School and graduated from Del-Mar Beauty School in 1940. A devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; Bernice had also taught Sunday School and volunteered her services at the Lutheran School of the Deaf, American Red Cross, Projects Compassion and many nursing homes. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Warren Robbins, GA.

Mrs. Hilgenbrink is survived by her loving husband, Robert; daughter, Diana Haake of Ft. Collins, CO; daughter, Marsha Caldwell of Howell, MI; granddaughter, Debbi (Phil) Barnett of Ft. Collins, CO; granddaughter, Jodi Medell of Santa Fe, NM; grandson, Charles (Tara) Caldwell II of Howell, MI; granddaughter, Kimberly Caldwell of Macon, GA; great-grandson, Samuel Barnett and a soon to be born great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Stout, and her brother, Robert Edwards.

Mrs. Hilgenbrink was cremated. A memorial service will be scheduled sometime in the future at Redford Lutheran Church in Redford, MI.
